Spring 2010: The Bible and the End of the World

This course responds to the media hype surrounding the prediction that the world will end in 2012 and will consider what Christians believe about the end of the world.

The course will cover the following:

Week 1 15 February What is Christian Eschatology?
   - and what is it not?
Week 2 22 February Hope Restored
   - theology of hope
Week 3 1 March Now and Not Yet
    - Biblical prophesy
Week 4 8 March Millennialism
    - pre-, mid-, post-, a- what?
Week 5 15 March Doomsday predictions
    - 2012 and all that
Week 6 22 March Personal eschatology
    - ‘The promises are for you and for your children’
