Postgraduate Entry Requirements
Taught Master of Theology Programmes
Applicants for entry to the taught Master of Theology programmes must normally hold either:
- a recognised UK Honours Level Bachelor’s degree of Lower Second level or above in Theology and/or Religious Studies, or
- a recognised UK Honours level Bachelor’s degree of Lower Second level or above in another discipline and a recognised qualification in Theology and/or Religious studies. Such candidates must display a level of ability consistent with possible success at postgraduate level. The Programme Committee may require such candidates to submit a specimen piece of previous written work.
Applicants for entry to the Post-graduate Diploma programmes must normally hold either:
- a recognised UK Bachelor’s degree in Theology and/or Religious Studies. Such candidates must display a level of ability consistent with possible success at postgraduate level. The Programme Committee may require such candidates to submit a specimen piece of previous written work, or
- a recognised UK Honours Bachelor’s degree in a relevant other discipline, normally in the field of the humanities, and a recognised qualification in Theology and/or Religious studies. Such candidates must display a level of ability consistent with possible success at postgraduate level. The Programme Committee may require such candidates to submit a specimen piece of previous written work.

Post-graduate Research
Applicants for entry to Master’s research must normally hold a UK Honours Level Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Theology of Lower Second level or above.
Applicants for entry to doctoral research must normally hold a UK MTh or MDiv. Overseas students would need to have the equivalent.
Most applicants are entered for MPhil first with a view to PhD.
