MTh / MPhil / PhD
Master of Theology (by Research)
This is a research degree offered in conjunction with Aberdeen University, leading to the award of the University of Aberdeen Master of Theology. It involves producing a 40,000 word thesis. Supervision is mainly through ICC staff, with co-supervisors from Aberdeen University:
- It can be taken in the areas of Old Testament, New Testament, Mission Studies, Pastoral Theology, Youth Work, and Buddhism.
- Students may study full-time, for 12 months, or part-time, for 24 months.
- Depending on progress students may be able to continue their research to MPhil or PhD level.
- The MTh is available to those with a good Honours degree in theology or a related discipline. In some cases other theological qualifications or experience of ministry may be taken into account. Please contact the college for more details, enquiries@icc.ac.uk.
PhD and MPhil
The research degrees of PhD and MPhil are also offered in conjunction with the University of Aberdeen, leading to the award of a University of Aberdeen PhD or MPhil.
- The PhD normally takes 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time. It requires producing a thesis of 100,000 words, which should represent an original contribution to knowledge.
- The MPhil normally takes 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time. It requires producing a thesis of 60,000 words which makes a significant contribution to a field of study.
