Lectures

Derek Newton TeachingICC’s undergraduate programmes are all taught in courses which last for a semester, and there are two semesters per academic year.

Each morning’s teaching is broken up into three sections, with a break for coffee and a break for college worship in between.  Afternoon classes also have breaks for coffee or tea.

Lecturers use a variety of teaching methods, with straightforward lecturing being interspersed with the use of more interactive teaching methods, including group discussion, reflection on personal reading, case studies, role playing and the use of appropriate video material.

With all our undergraduate courses, students are expected to do significant amounts of recommended reading between the classes. The aim of our teaching is not just to give you our answers, but to equip you to be able to find your own.

ImageCourses in the MTh in Biblical Interpretation are delivered over a term, and there are 3 terms per academic year, but teaching is normally done in three sessions each lasting for one or two days. The nature of postgraduate study means that there is a great amount of reading and preparation which needs to be done between these blocks of teaching.
